We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with Canada&#8217;s privacy principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Information we collect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Account and membership details: first and last name, email, phone number, address, emergency contact, skills and interests, languages spoken, availability and family members you choose to add (name, month\/year of birth and relationship).<\/li>\n\n<li>Volunteer applications: the details above plus anything you tell us about why you would like to volunteer.<\/li>\n\n<li>Event registrations and tickets: attendee names, email and answers to event questions (for example dietary needs).<\/li>\n\n<li>Donations and payments: name, email, address, amount and payment reference. Card details are entered directly with our payment providers (Stripe, PayPal or Square) and are never stored on our website.<\/li>\n\n<li>Messages you send us through the contact form, and your email address if you join our mailing list.<\/li>\n\n<li>Basic technical data such as your IP address and browser, used for security and to prevent spam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How we use your information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To manage your account, membership, family members and volunteer role.<\/li>\n\n<li>To register you for events, send tickets and check you in.<\/li>\n\n<li>To process donations and issue receipts, including charitable receipts where applicable.<\/li>\n\n<li>To contact you about community activities, and to reach your emergency contact if needed during an event.<\/li>\n\n<li>To send our newsletter, only if you opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.<\/li>\n\n<li>To keep the website safe and meet our legal and accounting obligations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Consent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We collect and use your information with your consent, which you give when you submit a form and tick the consent box. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us; this may limit our ability to provide some services (for example, a membership needs a way to contact you).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sharing your information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the website and process payments or emails (such as our web host, payment processors and mailing-list provider), with volunteers who need it to run an event, or when required by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How long we keep it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Donation and financial records are kept for the period required by Canadian tax law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Security<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access to member information is limited to authorized board members and volunteers. We use secure connections (HTTPS) and reputable payment providers, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cookies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and to make forms and checkout work. We do not use advertising cookies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your rights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can view and update most of your information from My account.
