{"id":13,"date":"2026-09-26T00:43:37","date_gmt":"2026-09-26T00:43:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jcso.ca\/index.php\/membership\/"},"modified":"2026-11-04T23:27:31","modified_gmt":"2026-11-04T23:27:31","slug":"membership","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jcso.ca\/index.php\/membership\/","title":{"rendered":"Membership"},"content":{"rendered":"<style>\na {\n    text-decoration: none;\n    color: #464feb;\n}\ntr th, tr td {\n    border: 1px solid #e6e6e6;\n}\ntr th {\n    background-color: #f5f5f5;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div>\n<h2>Become a JCSO Member<\/h2>\n<p>JCSO membership offers an opportunity to become more actively involved in the organization and contribute to its community mission.<\/p>\n<p>Members can participate in organizational activities, connect with other community members, contribute ideas, support programs, and help shape JCSO\u2019s continuing development.<\/p>\n<h2>Membership Categories<\/h2>\n<p>JCSO\u2019s bylaws establish two membership categories:<\/p>\n<h3>Active Member<\/h3>\n<p>The 2011 bylaw defines an Active Member as a Muslim Palestinian Canadian who resides in the National Capital Region.<\/p>\n<p>Active Members have the right to receive notice of, attend, speak, and participate at meetings of members. Each Active Member is entitled to one vote at meetings of members.<\/p>\n<h3>Associate Member<\/h3>\n<p>The 2011 bylaw defines an Associate Member as either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Palestinian Canadian residing in Canada; or<\/li>\n<li>A person who is not Palestinian Canadian, resides in the National Capital Region, and is recommended by a Palestinian Canadian<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>General Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>The bylaws state that applicants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be at least 18 years of age<\/li>\n<li>Agree with JCSO\u2019s values and objectives<\/li>\n<li>Abide by its bylaws, rules, and regulations<\/li>\n<li>Be admitted to a membership category by the Board<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Application process<\/h2>\n<p>A safe public-facing process would be:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Review the membership categories and eligibility criteria.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the membership application form.<\/li>\n<li>Submit any required supporting information.<\/li>\n<li>The Membership Committee reviews the application.<\/li>\n<li>The Committee makes a recommendation to the Board.<\/li>\n<li>The Board makes the final decision.<\/li>\n<li>Approved applicants receive membership and renewal information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The bylaw gives the Membership Committee responsibility for evaluating applications and making recommendations, while the Board has final authority to approve or reject applications<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Become a JCSO Member JCSO membership offers an opportunity to become more actively involved in the organization and contribute to its community mission.
